Out With The Old. In With The New!

We have a new bike in our fleet! The 2013 Honda CRF250L! We have had a lot of requests for another 250cc bike, and the Honda, is the latest, and greatest new 250 on the market. Even we can't believe our good luck in acquiring this bike. Billy found it on Craigslist, with only 48 miles on it! Crazy, but true. Apparently the original owner's enthusiasm for the bike was not shared by the whole family. Terribly sorry, but his loss, was our gain!

We didn't need ten bikes in our fleet, so we discussed selling our green KLR. Before we could even post it on Craigslist, we had a very nice guy visit the shop, just to talk bikes, and he took a liking to the green KLR. After a test ride, he came back with a grin, and bought the bike! Done deal. Couldn't be easier!
Bye bye green KLR.This was the first bike we bought for the business. We always referred to it as the "Orphan", because when we first brought it home, and parked it with the BMWs, it looked a little out of place. Now the Orphan has a new home, and a very happy new owner! Happy trails!

The new Honda. Yes, we temporarily housed it in our Portland apartment. That's not wrong, is it?

You know you want to ride this bike. Make a reservation today!

Spring Has Sprung!

We are having a spectacular spring, here in Central Oregon! Sometimes it feels like we have winter right up to the 4th of July, and then bang it's summer! Not this year. Spring is busting out all over. The birds are singing, the snow is gone, and the days are warm. The Cascade Lakes Highway opened last week. A whole month earlier than it usually does!

The Cascade Lakes Highway is a spectacular ride. From our location, you can take a loop trip down the highway, and around Mount Bachelor. Forest Service roads intersect the route, and beg to be explored. So many roads, so many lakes, mountains, and views.... SO many choices!

To help you explore, we're having a special on our Dakar. Normally renting for $130 a day; the Dakar is only $105 a day until May 31st. You can see all the details on our website.

"Broken Top" is just one of the many mountains you can see from the Cascade Lakes Highway.

Here's another look at our Dakar. $105 a day, until May 31st. Such a deal!

Around The Shop

We had another busy weekend at Oregon Dual Sport Rental & Adventures! We got some projects finished up, booked a few reservations, and sent out emails with our latest website special. If you would like to receive our emails....no more than two a month, max, all you need to do, is go to our website, (There's a link on the right side of this blog) click on "Contact Us", and fill out the form. Make sure you include your email address, and in the comments section, indicate that you would like to receive our emails. We'll add you to the list!

As we promised in an earlier post, we have put a larger capacity gas tank on the black DRZ.
Billy is removing the stock tank. Draining out the old gas was a smelly process.

Putting the petcock on the new tank.

"Hey! I'm kinda naked here! Where's my new tank?"

Almost done. We had to get a slightly longer vacuum hose. The stock hose isn't quite long enough to reach up from the extended tank.

All done! Looks great, and you won't have to add gas every 100 miles.

Meanwhile, back at the BMW F650GS....
I posted this picture a while back, and said we were going to install sturdier handlebars... ("Somebody"  bent the stock bars while riding in sand in Baja...)
Well, we learned that there are no after market bars available for this bike, so we ordered another set from BMW, and made a few adjustments.

...and by adjustments, I mean we filled them with fine sand.

Billy is tapping the sand down into the end of the bars.

Sand? Yes! The sand adds stability to the bars, and also cuts way down on vibrations to the hands.

Almost done. Putting the throttle, and brake back on.

All finished, and ready for "Somebody" to take a quick test ride.

Here's a look at our shop.
